Grey Water Systems

Grey Water SystemsStop Up to 360 Litres of Household Grey Water Going Down Your Drain Every Day by Safely & Automatically Rediverting it to Water Your Garden Using the Eco-Care Grey Water System and Receive a Bonus FREE Holiday for Two Valued at Up to $1,000!

The fully automatic Eco-Care System means you no longer have to break your back bucketing greywater into your yard! It is one of the few grey water diverter systems approved by Government environmental authorities and represents a great investment in your garden's and family's health.

Dear fellow garden owner,

Grey water (for re-use) is the water that comes from your shower and washing machine. The average family of four wastes up to 130,000 litres of water a year by not recycling their grey water into their garden.

What Happens to Your Grey Water Now?

When you have a shower or use your washing machine, the grey water used literally goes down the drain. This pollutes the environment and is a terrible waste of water that could be 'recycled' and put to use on your garden.

What You Can Do with Your Grey Water?

By using a grey water system, you can redivert grey water into your garden, thereby putting to good use a lot of precious water that would otherwise go to waste.

How Should Grey Water Be Used?

Environmental agencies provide guidelines for use of grey water including:

  • Grey water must not be stored for more than 24 hours otherwise bacteria may reach levels that are harmful. This is why the Eco-Care Grey Waste Water Diverter System ensures that any grey water is appropriately used within 24 hours.
  • Grey water should be distributed directly into the sub-surface of your garden bed via a sub-surface micro soaker or irrigation hose. Sprinkling grey water so it becomes airborne is not recommended.
  • Grey water can be used on plants and trees but it is not recommended that it is used on vegetable gardens or other consumable plants for obvious reasons.
  • Grey water should not be used during wet weather as the run off may distribute the grey water beyond the garden area intended.
  • Use low phosphorus detergents
So in a nutshell, grey water can be best used in your general garden.

Further detail about grey water usage is generally available through your local council:

Why Do You Need the Eco-Care Waste Water Diverter System to Divert Your Grey Water?

  1. It better manages the water flow rate – the water flow rate from your washing machine and shower can be much too fast for your micro-irrigation system to handle thereby creating potential problems such as the grey water backing up or micro irrigation hose fittings bursting. The Eco-Care Grey Waste Water Diverter system manages the flow in a more even manner by temporarily storing to water for distribution.
  2. It ensures that your grey water is not stored for more than 24 hours – The Eco-Care Grey Waste Water Diverter system automatically dumps residual waste water every 24 hours.
  3. It is easy to clean and saves you time – to help ensure a healthy environment for you and your family, it is recommended you periodically clean any grey water management system you have. The Eco-Care Grey Waste Water Diverter system is very easy to clean as you can quickly and easily access the area that needs to be cleaned. Other systems may require you to dismantle parts of the unit, making them very fiddly and time consuming to clean.
  4. A non-clogging gate valve reduces maintenance – a sliding gate diverter valve is used to prevent clogging and reduce the need for cleaning.
  5. Quality parts and construction gives you less hassle – The unit is Australian made using top quality parts. The last thing you want is to install a grey water diverter unit and then have to constantly maintain it and attend to problems! In particular, the Eco-Care Grey Waste Water Diverter system uses an electronic water level sensor to determine when to pump the water out. Other grey water diverters can use older, more mechanical sensors, which can become faulty and cease to do the job for you.
  6. It is fully automatic – you don't have to run out into the yard with buckets of water every time someone takes a shower or washes some clothes. No more back-breaking bucket lugging! Just go about your business and let the Eco-Care Grey Waste Water Diverter system do its job.
  7. It is one of the few grey water diverter systems approved by Government Authorities. The Eco-Care Grey Waste Water Diverter system is approved by the Victorian EPA and the Queensland Dept. of Local Government Planning. It is also registered by the Dept. of Health in New South Wales and the Dept. of Health in Western Australia.

Manufacturer's Guarantee

The Eco-Care Grey Waste Water Diverter system has a 12 month manufacturer's guarantee covering any manufacturing faults. The Warranty covers replacement of parts and not any labour or consequences of losses.

FAQs

Q. How Long for Delivery?
A. Your Eco-Care Grey Waste Water Diverter system will be delivered via courier to you in around one week after you place your order

Q. How does the Eco-Care system work?
A. By closing a valve, waste grey water (eg. from the shower or washing machine) is discharged into the unit. The water level in the tank rises to start the pump. Grey water is discharged to sub-surface irrigation until the water level in the tank decreases to stop the pump. Additionally, the pump activates every 24 hours to discharge residual water in accordance with Government regulations.

Q. What size is the Eco-Care System unit?
A. Overall, including external plumbing pipe work, the unit is 500mm x 400mm x 500mm high. With an additional 200mm clearance above the unit required to be able to remove the filter sock/basket.

Q. What is the Eco-Care System unit made of?
A. The tank is made from food-grade polyethylene. The plumbing pipe work is standard uPVC.

Q. What capacity is the Eco-Care system unit?
A. The tank has a 20 litre capacity that the unit will automatically pump out.

Q. How is the Eco-Care System Installed?
A. It is recommended that you have your local plumber install the Eco-Care System (this is also usually required to qualify for any Govt. rebates). This should cost you around $150.

Q. How must the unit be installed?
A. Requirements vary from state to state. Your plumber should ensure that installation is in accordance with AS/NZS 3500.2.3003 Sanitary Plumbing and Drainage and any specific local requirements.

Q. How do I set up the sub-surface irrigation?
A. You can obtain 25mm irrigation hose and fitting easily and cheaply from your local irrigation and hardware supplies store (we don't sell these items as they are too bulky and expensive to ship to you – you can get them far cheaper yourself direct from your local irrigation/plumbing/hardware store).

You run your irrigation hose from your Eco-Care System to the garden beds and plants you want watered. You can simply put the irrigation hose under your garden mulch (providing you have a reasonable coverage of mulch). It is all very easy and cheap to do.

Q. Is the Eco-Care System an approved plumbing product?
A. The Eco-Care System has Plumbing Safety Type Test Licence Number PST20083 under Standards Australia ATS 5200.460-2004.

Q. What is the pump performance?
A. The nominal discharge of the pump is 110 litres per minute with no discharge hose.

Q. How much power does the pump use?
A. The pump runs only when the unit discharges waste water. The average four person household will result in the pump running about 15 minutes a day – only a few cents in power cost per day.

Q. What happens if the power is turned off?
A. If the pump does not start, the waste water will overflow into the sewer through the overflow pipe work supplied with the unit.

Q. Does the Eco-Care System treat the grey water?
A. Under current Government definitions, the system is best described as a pumped diversion system that does not treat grey water. The system incorporates a filter sock and basket to remove the larger particles of lint and hair in accordance with Australian Standards.

Q. What maintenance is required?
A. Periodically clean the filter sock and basket and wipe the probe clean – a process taking just a few minutes. As the types of soaps and detergents used in the shower and washing machine will vary, initially check the filter sock and basket and probe weekly until the frequency of cleaning can be determined.

Q. What soaps and detergents can be used?
A. Household detergents that are high in sodium are likely to detrimental to plants and the soil. The levels of phosphorous in detergents may also cause problems depending on the soil type. Enclosed with each Eco-Care System is information on commonly used laundry products. For more info visit www.lanfaxlabs.com.au Further information relevant to plants can be readily obtained from your local nursery.

Q. What rebates can I get for the Eco-Care System?
A. See the list above and go here to link to your appropriate Govt. authority to find out more.

Q. What do I do when it rains?
A. Use the diverter valve to channel the grey water back into the sewer. A process that only takes a few seconds.

Q. How can you afford to offer $1,079 in free bonuses?
